Prototyping

For our prototype we made 2 videos. The main objective of these prototypes were to test out our
questions but we actually learned alot from them

First Prototype

Our first prototype was very basic. We shot 3 interviews in the studio and just threw them together
in premier. I also shot some b roll of my location church just to try and break it up a little bit.
The main thing we learned was that we needed to improve our audio quality. We also got a
chance to test out some questions.

Second Prototype

Our second prototype was a big improvement. The main goal of this prototype was to test out
our new questions. We spent a lot of time trying to refine these questions in order to provoke
the most substantial answers. 


Our audio was still a problem but it was after making this prototype that we rented a zoom from
the college and this improved the audio vastly. 


As you can see there was a lot of trial and error when choosing our questions. We really wanted
to provoke good answers and I think it was effective.

Approaching Interviewees

We held a group meeting where we sat and discussed potential people we might interview. Our documentary is focused on the views of college students so we thought it was best to approach religious/cultural college societies. We thought this was the most efficient and sensible way to find students who have or may have had religious experience. We also hoped to find some students who grew up in Irish catholic culture but practiced another religion to bring in a different view for our documentary. We visited the Maynooth University, Dublin City University and the Technological University Dublin website to locate contact information for these societies. We then picked all the societies that met our criteria and sent them all an email explaining what our documentary was about and asked if they would have any society members who would be interested in featuring in it.
