Caoimhe Rooney is a Writer and Photographer who wrote about the decline of Ireland's Catholic Identity. In 2015 she wrote a popular article that discussed some of the reasons why Ireland is losing its history is religious belief.

"The Church is often seen as having backwards views when it comes to modern political, science and social matters.  Although, they have taken steps to combat this perspective, namely appointing Pope Francis who is seen as having more progressive views than his predecessors."- Caoimhe Rooney, 'The Decline of Catholicism in Ireland' 2015.
Some of the statistics she provided were;
In 1991 around 90% of the Irish population attended Mass regularly, this number dropped to 10% in 2011.
Belief in religion in Ireland was at about 69%, that number declined to 47% in 2012.
She also took some powerful images.
